Plans have been put forward to build 60 new homes in a north Northumberland village.

The Valley View Partnership has put in proposals for outline planning permission to the west of the Northern 4X4 garage, creating an extension of the village.

The plan comprises 60 homes in a in a mix of two, three and four bedroom units, with up to 250 residents living at the site when it is fully built.

Drawings for the scheme include setting out the homes in clusters gathered around landscape courtyards and mews areas, ‘creating an intimate village community’.

Each property will also have car parking spaces, with up to four at the four-bedroom homes.

It is also proposed that a substantial ‘landscape buffer zone’ will be put around the perimeter of the site to reduce any impact on privacy of the neighbouring residential estate.

A statement from the design and access document for the application said: “There are insufficient opportunities for development within Thropton village and an extension represents the only option for growth.

“Development, which is of a scale and character appropriate to the village, will therefore be considered acceptable where it meets an identified need.”
