RNLI crew called to help stricken yacht

RNLI news.

RNLI news.

Amble RNLI volunteers were called out to assist a stricken yacht, which had suffered engine failure and was being blown close to rocks.

The incident happened on Friday at 3.20pm as the vessel was entering Amble Harbour.

Increasing south-westerly winds started to blow the yacht, called My Way, towards the North Pier rocks.

Amble’s inshore lifeboat, The Mildred Holcroft, went out to the stricken vessel and attached a towline to it.

The Mildred Holcroft safely escorted My Way from danger and back to the safety of Amble Marina.

The operation was completed by 4pm and the Mildred Holcoft returned to station.
