Rare opportunity to cycle in stunning park for hospice

A rare and exciting opportunity to cycle around Alnwick’s picturesque Hulne Park is taking place next month, in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland.

The event is being organised by the charity and will follow the 6.4-mile blue footpath around the park.

Rebecca Taylor, community and events fund-raiser for the hospice, said: “Bicycles are not normally allowed into Hulne Park, so this is a fantastic opportunity for families to see Hulne Park in this way.”

The event is being staged on Sunday, June 1, from 10am to 4pm, and is suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids (off-road tyres).

Children must be fairly confident on a bike as there are a couple of modest hills, although there is no time pressure to finish.

Entry is £6 adults, £4 children or £17.50 for a family (two adults/two children).

There will be a goody bag and medal for every child.

Northumbrian Water is providing bottled water and there will be various stalls.

To sign up, visit hospice care-nn.org.uk.

○ Tee-off times are still available for the hospice’s charity golf day at Alnmouth Foxton on Tuesday.
