Rare chance to visit ossuary at Bamburgh

A rare chance to visit the Bamburgh ossuary will be held on Wednesday.

Bamburgh Heritage Trust will be hosting the evening exploration of the creation of the ossuary and of Bamburgh’s Anglo-Saxon inhabitants.

The event, at 7pm, will take place in the candle-lit crypt of St Aidan’s Church, Bamburgh.

The talk is being given by Jessica Turner, of the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership, and will include an exploration of the Anglo-Saxon context in which these ancestors lived and the links to both St Aidan and St Cuthbert.

Tickets are £7, including refreshments, and proceeds go to the Trust for continuing conservationof the ossuary.
