Police are warning people to look after their dogs when out in rural areas.
Northumbria Police would like to remind dog walkers to take care and control over their dogs while out walking in rural areas.
It comes after an incident in the Old Swarland area sheep were attacked by a loose dog.
The incident happened at around noon on Wednesday, July 23, when a dog, described as a brown bull mastif, attacked two pedigree sheep.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information. Officers are also reminding dog owners that it is an offence not to have proper control over your dog and causing distress to other people and animals.
