Police set out crime focus

Targeting underage drinkers and anti-social behaviour are high on the agenda for police in Alnwick, Amble and Rothbury.

Officers are focussing activity on a number of neighbourhood priorities for the month ahead, which have been raised by local communities.

As well as trying to curb underage boozers and anti-social behaviour, police are also determined to tackle speeding through villages and to address noise nuisance from commercial and residential properties.

Paul Truscott, neighbourhood inspector for Alnwick, Amble, Rothbury and Coquetdale, said: “As well as targeting known criminals and crime hotspots, officers are committed to tackling problems which have been raised by the local communities.

“All officers and staff will be focused on addressing these key issues during February.

“These priorities cause problems for individuals and communities alike and contribute to anti-social behaviour which we are determined to address.”

Progress against these priorities will be reported on via the force internet site, at www.northumbria.police.uk, and through local meetings.

Contact police on 999, in an emergency, or on the non-emergency number, 101.

○ Police will be visiting Barndale House School, in Alnwick, on Tuesday at 2.30pm.
