British Transport Police (BTP) officers have a released an image of a woman they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a suitcase from a train on Sunday, August 11.
Investigators hope that members of the public may recognise the woman pictured and help police identify her.
PC Cheryl Bainbridge is investigating. She said: “The victim, a 27-year-old woman from Manchester, boarded a train to Edinburgh at York station around 2.55pm.
“She placed her suitcase in the luggage rack and took her seat further down the carriage. When she arrived at Edinburgh Waverley station, she noticed that her case was missing from the rack.”
Officers have followed several lines of enquiry into the incident, including reviewing CCTV from stations along the route. They have since obtained an image of a woman who left the service at Berwick-upon-Tweed and who they believe can assist with their investigation.
PC Bainbridge added: “If you recognise the woman pictured, or know her whereabouts, then please get in touch.”
