Plan ahead to avoid delays

Police have issued advice to those attending the Jessie J concert in Alnwick on Saturday.

Officers are urging concert-goers to plan their journeys in advance and give themselves plenty of time as they expect roads in and around the town to be busy leading up to the event.

People driving to the concert are asked to be patient when entering and leaving the town.

Those attending the event are asked to park in the designated parking areas which will be well signposted on the night.

Officers will also be patrolling the car parks on Saturday evening to deter opportunistic criminals and keep vehicles safe.

Inspector Paul Truscott, of Alnwick Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We will have officers on duty to help with the anticipated numbers of vehicles travelling to and from the venue. We know people will be out to have a good time and we want them to enjoy a safe evening here in Alnwick.

“This means reminding people to watch how much they drink and to look out for their friends to make sure everyone enjoys their night at the concert and plans to get home safely.

“We’re also advising people to keep a close eye on their personal possessions, purses, wallets and mobiles.

“We want people to remember their night out in Alnwick for all the right reasons.”
