The outlet is located at Willowburn and the company is currently looking for a full-time dog-grooming stylist and the position of part-time store colleague (various hours are available).

Pets at Home is the UK’s number one pet-care retailer. It has more than 400 outlets across the UK and is planning to open at least 20 new shops this year.

The Alnwick development has seen the expansion of the retail park to the south of the town and the store is located between the back of the Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre and the Sainsbury’s car park.

Last year, Northumberland Estates applied to Northumberland County Council for the new retail unit and the application was approved in June. Work to build the outlet started towards the end of 2015 and the company’s website states that the shop will open on Friday, July 1.

The outlet is to have a retail floorspace of more than 6,000 sq ft and a mezzanine level of more than 3,000 sq ft, which will be used for veterinary and dog-grooming services. The development includes an associated servicing area and the provision of an additional 32 car-parking spaces (including accessible parking) to the Willowburn Retail Park. Alnwick’s Pets at Home outlet will create a total of 16 full-time and seven part-time staff.
