Patients face cancer alone

More than one in five of the 1,700 newly-diagnosed cancer patients in Northumberland – an estimated 400 each year – lack support from family and friends during their treatment and recovery, according to research published by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Of these, an estimated 100 will receive no help at all.
