The venue, at Cresswell, will mark its 25th anniversary on Sunday with a family fun day, including a visit from a family of gorillas.

The gorillas – a mother and father and their two babies – along with their intrepid friend The Explorer, will be part of a visually stunning show that also raises awareness of the plight of the mountain gorilla.

Sunday’s party, from noon to 5pm, is open to visitors and local people as well as residents at Golden Sands.

The celebration also includes kids’ rides, zorbs, inflatables, music, a hog roast and a table-top sale to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Golden Sands is marking 25 years by rolling back its prices to 1991 for one day only.

There will be one Silver Deal at the party, with a caravan available to buy for £1,991, plus site fees.
