Owners of a north Northumberland village pub are continuing to offer a mortgage deal to would-be buyers in a bid to sell the premises.
After 15 years of owning the Tankerville Arms in Eglingham, George and Mary Elliott want to sell up and return to retirement in France.
They say that, although there have been many inquiries, potential buyers have been unable to secure bank funding.
To try to secure a deal, the couple are offering a personal loan of 50 per cent of the purchase price, based on a repayment mortgage over 25 years at 6.5 per cent interest. The inn is for sale at £550,000.
George and Mary announced they were happy to become mortgage lenders last year and the couple have reiterated their intentions.
In 2012, The Tankerville Arms became the Tourist Board’s highest-ranked inn in Northumberland.
