Northumberland twins grab world’s media attention

North Northumberland’s famous twins are settling back into normal life after a flurry of media attention from across the world.
On Sunday, July 1, Dylan was born right here in north Northumberland, while sister Hannah was born less than two hours later in Scotland.
Since then, the cross-border twins, as well as parents Donna Keenan and Joe Fox, from Wooler, have become a media sensation.
As well as newspapers, TV and radio in the North East and the Scottish Borders, their story has appeared in many of the national newspapers and across the world.
Places as varied as Vietnam, Lithuania and Portugal have reported on the two-week-old twins who were born in different countries, which is ‘a bit mad’ according to mum Donna.
This week, she has been going through all of the newspapers, cutting out the articles to put in a scrapbook to show the twins when they grow up.
“Luckily it’s calmed down a bit, the phone’s stopped going and we can enjoy them now,” she said.
And older sister Jessica, two-and-a-half, is also enjoying getting to know her siblings.
“She’s brilliant,” said Donna. “She’s been helping out with changing nappies and feeding.
“Although I think she’s getting a bit jealous.”
The twins weren’t due until July 28, so their arrival a month early meant that they spent time in the Borders General Hospital in ward 17 and the special care unit, before they returned home to face the world’s media.
