Firefighters in the county will strike again today and tomorrow between 6pm and 10pm after the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) announced plans for more action.
This is part of the ongoing dispute between the FBU and the Government over reform of the firefighters’ pension scheme.
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service has plans in place to provide an emergency service during any period of strike action and will be putting these into action again. The service stresses, however, that it will not be business as usual.
Residents are encouraged to take steps to protect themselves and their homes from the risks of fire and other emergencies.
