Members are being recommended to go for a site visit ahead of making decisions on three planning applications by Bedmax, based at Detchant, near Belford.

The hamlet has long been embroiled in a dispute between residents and the horse-bedding firm over the use of the small road into the premises by HGVs.

Acklington Parish Council has objected to two applications to amend conditions which restricts the occupancy of cottages on land at Bank House Farm to holiday use.

The planning officer recommends approval subject to an agreement to secure £100,000 towards affordable housing in the local area.

Proposals for a new two-storey house on land North of the RSPCA Shop, on Rothbury’s High Street, is set to get the green light, despite an objection from Rothbury Parish Council. Members raised concerns over the use of a greenfield site, impact on light to residents, vehicle access and the creation of a permanent dwelling.
