No decision on change to housing site

The application to vary a condition relating to the construction phase at the Mill Hill development in Chatton was submitted by the Northumberland Estates last August.

The homes on plots seven to 15 have been completed and the current temporary access road ‘is unsuitable to service the construction of plots one to six’, according to the developer’s supporting statement.

Following three objections from neighbours, ward member for the area, Coun Anthony Murray requested that the decision be made by committee. Tillside Parish Council had not objected, but suggested a series of conditions.

The scheme was due before Tuesday’s meeting of Northumberland County Council’s planning and rights of way committee, but was withdrawn from the agenda late on.

In 2009, a scheme for 15 houses was approved adjacent to the former Mill Hill Farm, incorporating part of the former farmyard area and the adjoining fields/pond area.

Three years later, it was varied so that different house types could be built on plots one to six and in 2014, plot seven was amended so the orientation of the property was east-west instead of north-south.

The approval of the variation in 2012 included 20 conditions, the last relating to the access for construction vehicles.

The highways department has no objection to this condition being varied now, subject to the stopping-up of the existing temporary construction access and the reinstatement of the boundary wall and highway verge.
