New rigs are taking off for helicopter firm
The sky’s the limit for a north Northumberland helicopter firm after embarking on a cutting-edge aerial photography venture and exhibiting its products at a major technology event in London.
Heliguy, an internet company which is based at Greenfield Industrial Estate, in Alnwick, has launched its own brand of broadcaster rigs – and they are flying off the shelves.
The chopper is aimed at film-production companies, freelancers and multinational broadcasters and is capable of holding a range of cameras to capture incredible footage.
Heliguy founder, Joel Ross, believes it is a huge step forward for the company.
He said: “This is a big thing for us. We are building ground-breaking machines which are capable of getting cameras into the air.
“We are putting technology together which wasn’t possible before.
“Our broadcaster rig is aimed at people who need serious frame-rate capability to deliver ever more awe-inspiring footage in order to stay ahead.
“It delivers a bespoke advantage, which was not previously possible, by providing unique views.”
Since forming in 2006, Heliguy has forged a formidable name for itself in the remote control helicopter market, producing a range of products from cheap four-channel machines to large professional electric RC helicopters.
And in what Mr Ross has described as ‘a massive opportunity’ for the firm, Heliguy has been exhibiting at the BVE at the ExCeL in London. The three-day showcase, which ends today, is labelled as the essential broadcast and production technology event, playing host to 350 brands, including major manufacturers, distributors and resellers in the field.
Heliguy currently employs six staff but Mr Ross is keen to expand and wants to recruit an extra technical specialist.
