A single supported by music legend Sting will be performed live to the public for the first time on Saturday by some of the region’s most talented youngsters.
People will get the chance to watch the performance of the new song ‘Border to the River’ as part of a live event organised by Music Partnership North, which is a partnership between Northumberland County Council and Newcastle’s music services, Newcastle College and Sage Gateshead.
Music lovers are welcome to attend the event and enjoy a free day of live music performances, workshops and industry exhibitions in Newcastle College’s Performance Academy.
The region’s talented youth ensembles include; The Northumbrian Ranters, Northumberland Concert Band, Sage Gateshead Jazz Attack, the North East Regional Symphony Orchestra, NEMCO String Orchestra and the Northumberland Jazz Ensemble. They will be performing throughout the day culminating in a joint performance of the new single ‘Border to the River’ which Sting has been praising on social media.
Music Partnership North and Newcastle College will be delivering music workshops in a genre to suit every music lover. These workshops will offer something for everyone, from seasoned performers to complete beginners.
The event is free to the public and anyone can attend. MPN Live will run from 10am to 3pm.
