A special weekend to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War and honour life at that time is taking place in Chevington.
Organised by St John’s Church, the events will run from tomorrow to Sunday and residents of the parish (Red Row, Hadston and North and South Broomhill) are being encouraged to attend.
The church will host an exhibition and demonstrations from 11am to 4pm daily, apart from Sunday when they will run until 3pm. Refreshments will be on offer throughout.
On Saturday there will be stalls, raffles and a barbecue in the church grounds.
At 10am on Sunday there will be a 1914-style parish communion service.
This will be followed by evening prayer from 3pm, finishing at the village war memorial.
Red Row and North Broomhill first schools are contributing work for the exhibition and are bringing groups of pupils along tomorrow morning.
