A man climbed out onto the roof of the four-storey former home of Alnwick Brewery and maltings in the town centre this evening.
For several hours, he sat on the apex of the roof of the building in Dispensary Street.
But eyewitness reports suggest the man is now down. An ambulance and all other emergency vehicles had left the scene by around 10pm.
Police had cordoned off the area around the area to keep people and vehicles away and a fire crew from Alnwick was in attendance.
A crowd of onlookers, which had gathered in the Morrisons car park opposite, largely dispersed as daylight faded.
A £6million renovation of The Maltings and grade-two listed Bolam’s Mill, by Glanton-based County Life, was halted in 2009 after the credit crunch hit.
A total of 33 luxury apartments and five offices were planned for the site, a central atrium linking the two buildings.
