Light dream becomes reality

A new permanent lighting installation is to be unveiled at The Alnwick Garden, made possible thanks to a silent donation from a US trustee of the attraction.

The first phase of the project, called Sparkle, costs in excess of £100,000, and will be handled by UK lighting specialists, Marl Lighting.

It will see the hornbeam tunnels fitted with a state-of-the-art lighting system, boasting a 60-colour lighting programme.

The Duchess believes the installation will attract tourism in the winter months.

To mark the development, visitors are invited to join the Duchess of Northumberland as she unveils phase one of Sparkle, with an exclusive preview of the lighting installation on Saturday, November 24, at 5pm in the Garden.

There will be entertainment, refreshments and the chance to visit Father Christmas in his grotto. Normal admission applies.
