It was romance at the races for one Alnwick couple, after they got engaged at a Valentine’s Day meet at Kelso Racecourse.

The horses weren’t the only thing on the minds of Charlie Fortescue and Holly Grahamslaw last Thursday, as they made February 14 extra special.

Charlie got down on one knee and the pair made their engagement official in the winners’ enclosure at the track to a round of applause from the race-day crowd.

The course had teamed up with Scottish Racing to offer a romantic race-going couple the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to each of the five Scottish Racecourses, if they proposed to their loved one at the Kelso Morebattle Hurdle Valentines race-day last week.

And Charlie, who is a farmer from Tugall, did the honours.

He is a regular racegoer at the Border track and the couple have been wished well by those at the course.
