Hunt for missing dog leads to huge public response
Kip has gained a prestigious Good Citizen Gold Award from the Kennel Club
The search for a missing blind dog has sparked a massive response.
English springer spaniel Kip disappeared last Wednesday on Druridge Bay beach.
In the week that has followed, an overwhelming number of people from far and wide have joined the hunt to find the liver-and-white-coloured four-year-old.
Kip’s profile on doglost.co.uk has received around 90,000 page views, while the Gazette has been told that celebs like Ant and Dec have retweeted messages about the missing pooch.
Kip’s owner Sylvia Linnett, who lives near Acklington, said: “The support has been amazing. There have been so many people looking for him.
“We are not giving up on him.”
He is chipped and was wearing a collar, an ID tag with full details, and a high-vis jacket, which had the words ‘I am blind’ on it. It is held on with Velcro so may have been ripped off.
The hunt is still on and Sylvia urged people to check all types of places, as he may be taking shelter somewhere.
“The chances are the dog will be cold, tired and hungry and could be curled up in a ball, so please check things like bushes,” she added.
The search has gone from Seahouses to Blyth, with several unconfirmed sightings.
