Hotel on its way
The Hog's Head Hotel on the outskirts of Alnwick takes shape.
THE NEW Hog’s Head Hotel is taking shape on the southern side of Alnwick.
The Northumberland Estates venture will provide 53 beds and a restaurant, at a cost of £4million. Contractors have been on site, just off the Shilbottle road at Cawledge, since November last year, when the Duke of Northumberland laid the foundation stone.
The hotel has been designed to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional country inn offering value-for-money food and beverages and accommodation at four-star standard. It will be run by businessman Keith Liddell, of Greensfield Moor Developments, who also has the Lindisfarne Inn at Beal and the Bamburgh Castle Inn at Seahouses.
