The Alnwick Branch of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society (NDFHS) has placed an Absent Voters list of more than 1,000 men who were away at war in 1918 on the Bailiffgate Museum’s website.
The list often gives useful details of a man’s unit, previous units and/or activities.
For anyone interested in finding out more about their family’s role in the fighting, there is a talk by Trish Jones on Tuesday, September 2, at the Alnwick-based museum, from 7.15pm.
She will detail more than 20 different useful and often unexplored avenues, including absent voters, through which you can discover fascinating facts about your ancestors in the war, wherever they came from in the UK. The talk is free for NDFHS members, but open to everyone to attend, although a donation is requested.
