A Hadston man was jailed today for killing a pensioner outside a pub in Newcastle city centre.
Sean Sillet, 21, of Bondicar Road, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court in June, where he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Kenneth Brough.
Mr Brough, 65, received a single punch, which knocked him unconscious and led to him cracking his head on the pavement, outside the Beehive pub in the Bigg Market on January 28 this year. He died a week later in hospital.
This morning, Sillet was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.
