Green light for seven-home site on the coast
The site to the south of South Lane where planning permission has been granted for seven homes.
The construction of seven new homes in a north Northumberland seaside village was given the nod by councillors last week.
At a meeting of Northumberland County Council’s north area planning committee, members unanimously approved the scheme, which will see a mix of units built on land to the south of South Lane, next to the cemetery in Seahouses.
Outline permission had been granted for the site two years ago, but the design of the site, by Alnwick-based architect Tim Brook, was approved last Thursday.
Plots one to four, which are closer to South Lane, will feature one-and-a-half-storey dormer bungalows while plot five is a traditional single-storey bungalow.
The rear two plots are two-storey properties, and each dwelling has garaging and parking allocated, along with communal visitor parking bays.
The county council’s highways department did not raise any objection to the scheme, but it did attach conditions which will see a section of South Lane, from which the site will be accessed, widened and a footpath installed.
Seven local residents had objected to the plans, due to concerns such as the adverse impact on surrounding properties.
