Go-ahead for second phase of house plan

Plans for the next phase of the Raynham Road development in Belford have received the green light from the county council.

Tyneside-based NB Clark has secured planning permission for 12 new homes – half of which will be affordable homes for rent, depsite previously planning to market all for sale.

Phase two will now comprise a pair of two-bedroom homes, following pressure from the council and Belford Parish Council, and four three-bedroom properties.

Parish council clerk Isabel Hunter said: “Belford has probably the largest proportion of elderly people living in it as a share of its total local population in the UK, many of whom are currently living in larger-than-needed, ground-with-first-floor homes unsuited to their current and future needs who wish to downsize into more suitable two-bedroom homes with a particular need for bungalow layouts.”
