Business owners attended a special event at the end of January, designed to help boost opportunities and develop contacts.

A group of 25 people turned out for the BNI (Business Network International) and White Swan-supported referral networking evening.

The session, in Alnwick, was focused on boosting the local economy with an emphasis on creating business opportunities in the area.

Susie McDonald, event organiser and BNI Alnwick director, said: “If it is possible for us to do business together and boost our town’s economy, than I think that is what we should be doing.

“This referral networking evening was about creating the opportunity for local businesses to meet and find out how they can work together.”

Susie, from Eglingham, runs her own business consultancy, Calibrate Business.

She added: “I was delighted with the number of business relationships generated from this evening and pleased to hear that many people not only exchanged contact details, they also completed business deals on the evening.”

The session proved to be a hit for those attending.

Stuart Tiffin, of Oswald Hughes Electrical in Seahouses, said: “Although, we have been established in the area for many years I met local businesses that I did not know existed that I will do business with in future”

Another business owner, Mike Jones of PDP, said that BNI has attributed to his business growing by 50 per cent in the last three months compared with the same period in 2011-2012.

The members of the Alnwick Knight’s Chapter of BNI meet over breakfast on Tuesdays at The White Swan, Alnwick. For details, email susie@bni-northumbria.com or call 07767 755244/01665 578638.
