Funding helps Trust run estuary tours

The Coquet Shorebase Trust, at Amble, has received funding to help it run guided canoe tours of Coquet Estuary.

The money has come from the North Northumberland Coast AONB Sustainability Fund.

The group now has sit-on-top sea kayaks so that those with little experience can easily paddle up the River Coquet to Warkworth and back. The more traditional kayaks and canoes are available too.

The tours will highlight the history and geology of the river and the varied birdlife.

The Trust also offers basic safety training and guidance and is working with the AONB to promote good practice on the coastline. This can be incorporated into the tours, which take place on Monday (7pm to 10pm), Wednesday, August 13 (6pm to 9pm), Monday, August 18 (10am to 1pm) and Wednesday, August 27 (4pm to 7pm). It costs £25 per person. All equipment is provided, including wetsuits. For bookings, call 01665 710367 or email in fo@coquetshorebase.org.uk

○ The Trust will be offering sailing, windsurfing and canoeing/kayaking for children during the school summer holidays at Ladyburn Lake, at Druridge Bay. Visit coquetshorebase.org.uk
