A free guide for people with long-term health conditions has been re-published – and it’s bigger than ever.
Living Easy is an annual handbook for people with disabilities, long-term physical or mental-health conditions and those recovering from a hospital stay, as well as their families, friends and carers.
It is packed with details of local leisure activities, sports and holidays, and also contains a long list of health support groups and specialist facilities and services. There are also sections on employment, benefits and consumer issues.
The guide was initially published in Northumberland, but has proved so popular that it now incorporates Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Editor Heather Alabaster said: “We found that many people with particular health conditions have to travel widely around the region to find the support they need. ”
The booklet is supported by Northumberland County Council, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and local NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups, including Northumberland.
The guide is available from adult social care teams, hospital community teams, GP surgeries, Boots Pharmacies, carers’ groups and disability organisations.
It can also be found online at www.alabasterpublish ing.co.uk/publications or to get a copy by post call 03332 408468.
