Blackshaws took second place in The Atoll Big Heart Award category, as part of the seventh Annual Red Ribbon Awards 2016 – described as the UK’s most prestigious awards for British family-owned businesses. The ceremony was staged at Wembley Stadium last Friday.

The contest is the only one of its kind which recognises the achievements and contributions of the most enterprising business families and honours the most exceptional family-run companies.

Judges took into account a company’s passion, integrity, customer service and longevity and the businesses chosen for the final were picked for their entrepreneurial spirit and true dedication to British commerce.

Blackshaws’ managing director William Blackshaw was delighted that the firm was named runner-up in The Atoll Big Heart Award category.

He said: “I am very proud to take second place and couldn’t have done it without a great team.”

Blackshaws dates back to 1919. It has a Nissan and Suzuki dealership in Alnwick and a Mitsubishi dealership in Morpeth.
