Today, Facebook users across Northumberland will be able to join in with a social media forum that is discussing where new houses and jobs should be located across the county over the next 20 years.
Between 11.30am and 1.30pm, people will be able to log-on at www.facebook.com/NorthumberlandCC and ask questions and raise queries about the options that are proposed for housing, jobs and the green belt in the Northumberland Local Plan.
The council has been gathering detailed evidence on the level of development needed in the county to ensure that it can thrive economically, while protecting its special environmental qualities.
It wants to see a population that will not only support existing and new jobs in the county but also sustain and develop local services, businesses and local communities.
During the forum, people can ask questions of members of the council’s planning team about where around 1,200 homes are planned each year; where land for companies and jobs is proposed and where some small changes to the county Green Belt are being considered.
The county council has been running a series of consultation events across Northumberland to provide people with more information about the proposed options for the future, and allow opportunities to discuss them.
