Exam success for young surveyor

An Alnwick-based rural chartered surveyor has passed another professional milestone in her career.

Emma Fairbairn has fulfilled the rigorous criteria required by the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) to pass the exam.

Attaining this prestigious qualification makes the 25-year-old a Fellow of the CAAV and a fully-qualified professional valuer and adviser – no mean achievement at such a young age.

Emma, who was brought up on the family farm at Alnmouth, is eligible to add MRICS after her name having graduated in 2009 with BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University College and passed the qualifications required to become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Having spent a placement year working on the Duke of Buccleuch’s Langholm Estate, Dumfriesshire, and a short spell with Natural England in Newcastle, she joined Youngs RPS in February 2010 and works at the Alnwick office.

She has been described as a real credit and a valued member of the team.

Emma is an active member of Young Farmers.
