The former leader of the the far-right English Defence League, Tommy Robinson, has told the Gazette he knew his visit to an Alnwick high school would be cancelled once the news got out.
This week, the national media jumped upon a story, revealed by The Alnwickist, which was published in the Gazette last month, about the controversial 30-year-old speaking to GCSE and sixth-form students at the Duchess’s Community High School.
It has since been announced that the appearance, due to take place this coming Monday, had been cancelled.
Headteacher Maurice Hall explained that it was related to protocol for outside visitors coming into school.
