An Embleton man has been banned from the roads for a year after admitting drink-driving.

Malcolm Mitcheson, 69, of High Newton Farm Cottages, pleaded guilty at Mid and South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Mitcheson was found to have 64 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when driving on the B1340 and B1339 at Newton-by-the-Sea on Saturday, July 5, the legal limit is 35microgrammes.

Alongside the ban he was also fined £330 and ordered to pay £33 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
