eBook lending launched

A new, free eBook lending service has been launched in libraries across Northumberland.

eBooks are now available through a link on Northumberland County Council’s library website and free to borrow for all Northumberland library members.

The eBooks will be compatible with PCs, Macs and many eBook readers except the Kindle. They can also be downloaded directly to iPhones, iPads and Android devices.

Customers can borrow up to three books concurrently for a loan period of up to 21 days.

Users will need a library membership card and pin number.

When members borrow a book using the online service it will wirelessly appear on their device. Once the time is up, the book will disappear from the device.

The authority has bought around 1,200 eBooks. This could increase if popular.
