Drugs and guns found in Amble house raid

Police have recovered drugs and firearms in a raid on a house in Northumberland.

They carried out a search warrant at a house at Melrose Gardens in Amble on Thursday, after receiving information about potential drugs activity.

A number of firearms were recovered from the address as well as around 4oz of what is believed to be amphetamine. All items are currently being tested.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Neville Wharrier said: “We acted on information to carry out this search warrant and drugs and fireamrs were recovered at the address, and an arrest was made. Enquiries into this recovery is ongoing.

“This activity demonstrates we will always act on the information we receive about suspected criminal behaviour in our neighbourhoods.

“I’d urge anyone who has information about crime and disorder in their community to let their local officers know so we can take the appropriate action.”
