Two women from Alnwick celebrated shedding the stones as they were named Slimming World women of the year.

Each slimming group bestows the title on an inspirational member.

The award celebrates the transformation of a member, who is seen to be filled with enthusiasm and bursting with confidence due to their achievements so far.

Both women attend Thursday evening meetings at the Lindisfarne Adult Learning Centre in Alnwick.

The 7pm session winner was Shona Bell, who has lost 3st 12lbs (24.5kg) since she became a member on February 9.

From the 5pm group, Elaine White won, losing 2st 5lbs (15kg) since joining on January 5.

Lorna Allan, Slimming World consultant, said: “I am so proud of Elaine and Shona. Not only do they look fantastic, they have improved their health and are bursting with energy.

“They are a huge inspiration to everyone in our group and I would like to say a huge well done to both of them.”

Group membership, including access to the website ‘LifeOnline’, is £4.95 per week, or £4.12 when bought as a six or 12 week course.

Online membership is free for the first three months and then £20 per month.
