A north Northumberland beauty salon has been crowned the best in the North East of England, as part of a prestigious industry competition.

Enhance Beauty Rooms, in Alnwick, took the title at Sunday’s English Hair and Beauty Awards 2014.

Glory at the weekend’s ceremony in Manchester is another top honour for the Bondgate Without-based premises.

At last year’s awards, salon manager, Jane Williams, was named Fake Bake Therapist of the Year.

The 30-year-old, who is helped by colleague Courtney Dunn, is delighted at the success this time round.

Jane, said: “We are over the moon and it is nice to have this recognition and that our hard work is paying off.”

Enhance came out on top in the North East Beauty Salon of the Year category after beating the short-listed finalists of Sirens, in Durham, Newcastle Hair & Beauty and city-based Beautonic Beauty Salon, Bella Beauty, in Sunderland, and Grace & Elegance, of Middlesbrough.

The parlour was also named as a finalist in the Fake Bake Salon of the Year section at this year’s awards – against parlours from the likes of London and Manchester.

While it didn’t win, losing out to Miss Independent, in Middlesbrough, Jane was delighted to have been named as a finalist.
