Country homes bid set to get green light

Plans to convert a north Northumberland country hotel into two private homes is set to get the go-ahead.

As revealed by the Gazette in November, Coun Trevor Thorne wants to subdivide Embleton Hall in Longframlington, which he has owned since the 1980s, into two residences.

The scheme arose from the fact that Coun Thorne wanted to retire from the business but there was little interest in the hotel as a going concern, despite being on the market for nearly all of 2012.

Both the planning application and the listed building consent are recommended for approval at this afternoon’s meeting of Northumberland County Council’s north area planning committee.

Also on the agenda is an application for a new home on land to the rear of two properties on Beadnell’s Harbour Road. It is recommended for approval despite five objections.
