Has your pet got what it takes in front of the camera?
Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group has launched The Face of Alnorthumbria Pets 2015, a North East-wide photography competition with all proceeds raised going to local animal charities.
Professional photographers Sit Stay Capture will take the photographs at various events throughout the year.
It was launched at Glendale Show on Monday, where more than £150 was raised.
It costs £1 to enter and every penny raised will be split between Safe Homes and Kindness (SHAK), Alexa’s Animal Rescue, Berwick Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK), Red Squirrels Northern England and Mates United Siberian Husky Events and Rescue (MUSHER).
Rebecca Ashworth, who is organising the event for Alnorthumbria Vets, said: “I’m looking forward to meeting lots of pets from around the North East and with entries already in, I’m very glad not to be judging!
“We are hoping to raise as much money as possible, and with the competition open to all, we really want to see everyone getting involved.”
Prizes include dog grooming, day care, photoshoots, toys and hampers.
Paul Freeman, small animal director of Alnorthumbria Vets, said: “We are enormously grateful to all the companies that have rallied to donate prizes and sponsorship and hope it will act as a great incentive for people to enter their pets.
“With photoshoots arranged at all our surgeries, we are hoping to see lots of dogs, cats, rabbits and even those with more exotic pets that aren’t camera shy. The more money we can raise, the more animals in need we can help.”
