A shop owner has branded people who stole coat-hangers being sold for charity, as ‘the lowest of the low’.

The hangers were left outside Scott’s of Alnwick, on Bondgate Within, with a sign saying they were £1 a bundle, in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland. But on Saturday, the last three or four packs were stolen.

Charlie Scott, pictured above, said: “Every time we get an excess of hangers we do this. It has never happened before.

It’s not about the money, it’s about taking it away from the charity.

The hospice is a great cause, how can someone do that? If they read this, they should be ashamed of what they have done.”
