A special ceremony is being held on Sunday to remember the 12 airmen from Australia and New Zealand who died during the Second World War while serving at the former RAF fighter base at RAF Acklington.
The annual ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day memorial event at Chevington Cemetery is organised by the Newcastle Branch of the RAF Association.
The ceremony starts at 2pm and Association veterans will be joined by personnel from RAF Boulmer, members of the British Legion, representatives of Northumberland County Council, East Chevington Parish Council, the Air Training Corps and residents.
Wreaths will be laid and the Last Post played. The Roll of Honour will be read and the grave of each ANZAC airman will be honoured with a poppy cross.
