Bus victim of the snow
The driver of the 10.45 Alnwick bus looks back to see how he managed to slide of the Alnmouth road just after the Duchess Bridge.
Flurries of snow hit the region yesterday in a sign that winter is truly upon us. An Arriva bus left the road, collided with a hedge and ploughed into a field on the way out of Alnmouth, near to the Duchess’s Bridge, just before 11am.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Elsewhere, there were delays and warnings issued for the A1 between Morpeth and the A1068 junction in the morning due to icy roads, while the A697 between the junction with the A1 at Morpeth and Longhorsley was closed for a time with traffic being diverted. The Met Office has issued warnings for further snow and icy roads today.
