Brilliant bonfires and fabulous fireworks

An explosive weekend is in store with a number of organised firework and bonfire events planned throughout north Northumberland.

Displays are due to take place in a host of locations, including Alnwick, Rothbury, Swarland and Felton, among others.

Tomorrow, Chillingham Castle holds an event from 6pm to 8pm.

Tickets are priced £10 adults, £5 children and £25 for a family. Numbers are restricted so to buy tickets in advance, call 01668 215359.

Swarland also hosts a bonfire night and fireworks display tomorrow, at the football field and sports pavilion, opposite the village square.

The firework display will be accompanied by the sound of classical music.

There will be refreshments and a display of children’s art from neighbouring schools.

Gates open at 6pm with rockets up at 7pm. Entry is £5 for the family, £3 adults, £1 U16s.

A free gift is included for all the children who attend.

Eglingham holds an event tomorrow evening at the school field, starting at 6.15pm.

A busy night of festivities takes place on Saturday, including Alnwick and District Round Table’s annual event at the town’s rugby club.

Gates open at 6.30pm, before the display starts at 7.30pm.

Youngster Debbie Burn, aged six, from Amble, will flick the switch, after winning our competition to start the display.

Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for children. Hot food and refreshments will be available.

Felmoor Park, at Eshottheugh, also hosts a bonfire and fireworks display on Saturday, from 7pm. There will be live music and refreshments and a bar from 6pm. Entry is free.

The Cottage Inn, at Dunstan, stages a bonfire night on Saturday, starting at 7pm.

Coquetdale Round Table holds its annual display at Cragside, in Rothbury, on Sunday.

Gates open at 5pm with the display starting at 6pm. Entry £5 minimum donation per car.

A fireworks and bonfire event takes place that afternoon at the Barn at Beal, at Beal Farm, near Holy Island. Gates open at 4.30pm, with fireworks starting at 6.30pm.

A family ticket is £10, or £15 after tomorrow. Adults are £4, or £6 after tomorrow, children are £2, or £3 after tomorrow. U5s go free. For tickets, which are limited, call 01289 540044.

On Monday, there will be a fireworks party at Acton House, Felton. Entry, from 7pm, is free, including a BBQ and drinks.
