Belford Parish Council

Neighbourhood plan for Belford

A public meeting will soon be held to discuss a neighbourhood plan for the village. Parish chairman Brenda Stanton asked County Coun John Woodman to chair the meeting. Coun Geoff O’Connell has prepared a draft boundary of the area to be included in the plan, which will manage future development in the village.

Nude men ‘seen in the dunes’

Police received a report of naked men in the sanddunes at Ross Back Sands beach, but on police attendance none were found. Parish councillors told PC Kyle Currie that Ross beach was in fact a well-known naturist beach. Coun Carruthers said: “It’s been there for years. People come especially to go to it.”

Villagers urged to trim bushes

Belford Parish Council is calling on villagers to cut back any hedges or shrubbery that are obstructing public rights of way.

Coun Tracy Bell said: “A lot of hedges in the area are overhanging onto the public footpaths. Can we ask landowners to trim back the hedges and shrubs that are affecting the public rights of way.”

Police report three crimes

Three crimes had been reported in recent weeks. PC Kyle Currie told members that a tractor was damaged at Belford Golf Club on July 7 when grass was put in its diesel tank. An adult male had been charged with wounding following an incident at Burnside on July 24. Details of a third crime could not be reported.
