Litter-pickers turned out for a tidy up at Cullernose Point on Sunday.

Amble Sea Angling Club joined forces with officers from Northumberland Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority to clear beauty spot, Cullernose Point, of litter on Sunday.

A club spokesman said that the spot attracts anglers from all over the county and beyond during the summer, but a small minority spoil this wonderful area of outstanding natural beauty by leaving debris behind.

Ten bags of litter were taken away during the clean-up.

Thanks have been given to deputy chief fishery officer (environmental) J Green, fishery officer M Docherty and Norma Urwin of Amble Angling Centre, as well as Craig Middlemist, Jacek Juszczyk, Shane Price, Colin Dawson, Gordon Holland, Kevin Anderson and Ethane Marshall.

Thanks were also given to William Pringle, from Northumberland County Council for providing equipment.

○ Last week, the Gazette stated that the litter-pick was taking place on Saturday, instead of Sunday. We apologise for the error.
