As Rothbury WI prepares for its vintage fund-raiser, to buy defibrillators for the Coquet Valley, two local artists have donated work for an art sale.

WI members Margaret Bodley Edwards, artist, teacher and owner of Deugar Red Art Studio in Rothbury and keen painter and studio member, Judy Kell, are hosting the sale which will take place during the WI’s vintage fair on Sunday, June 29.

Original artwork in a variety of media will be on sale and Margaret and Judy are keen to encourage other artists to donate work too.

Margaret said:“As an artist, I am continually inspired by the beauty of the Northumbrian landscape and so the chance to ensure that the wildness and emptiness I so love is also safe for both locals and visitors was too good a chance to miss.”

Kate Holt, president of Rothbury WI, said: “The generosity of these two artists and their friends is astounding. The sale is going to be a wonderful addition to all we have happening on the day.”

All proceeds will go towards the cost of the defibrillators which are being bought and installed in conjunction with the Stephen Carey Fund.

Donations of original paintings, drawings, handmade cards and art work, are welcome and should be mounted or on canvas, to be with Margaret and Judy by Saturday, June 7. The sale will be run in the Parish Hall from 11am to 4pm.

Last week’s report on the vintage fair stated tea and coffee would be provided by Pumphreys and should have read Rington’s. We apologise for the error.
