A Rothbury artist was invited to provide five of her original works as prizes for this year’s Northumberland National Park awards.

Landscape painter Lynda Taylor, who runs the village’s Crown Studio Gallery, said: “When I was approached by the Northumberland National Park, I didn’t hesitate and immediately said a big ‘yes’ to the request.

“The National Park includes so many of my favourite places, that I was confident that I already had a fair selection of pieces for them to choose from.

“But as I tend to paint places in surrounding Coquetdale most often, I also felt that I needed a few more paintings of Redesdale and The Hadrian’s Wall area to give a broader selection.

“So I got busy with my paintbrushes to create a few more works of key places.”

Her work was whittled down to the best five paintings, which were then signed by Lynda and framed, before being given out at last week’s awards ceremony.
